An Engineer Successful Creating Tablets For Themselves
With the availability of many kinds of tablets in circulation in the market today is quite difficult to choose the right one. Michael Castor, an inventor decided to make their own tablets to meet the needs and specifications of what he wants.
This device is called PiPad which is a 10.75-inch tablet complete with touchscreen function, USB port, audio jacks, and applications are available therein. The tablet is powered by Raspberry Pi and using a Linux-based OS Raspbian which allows to run applications created for the Linux OS. This tablet looks like using existing items, but the total cost spent around $ 350.
The casing is made from Baltic wood and carbon fiber. The tablet has a length of 10.75 inches, width of .75 inches, and a thickness of only a few inches. For comparison the iPad Air has a 0.29-inch thickness with a touch screen of 9.7 inches. PiPad also has a web browser and can run applications created for the Linux operating system and use the Raspberry Pi processor and features a 10-inch capacitive touchscreen. USB ports and an Ethernet port and Audio Jack allows users to watch favorite movies, videos, and listen to music.
Battery that is used PiPad has a capacity of 10,000 mAh and able to work for 6 hours. Michael Castor spent a month to devise the design as well as search for the ingredients. For the process, it takes only 2 weeks.
PiPad received many compliments from the developers and consumers at Maker Faire, New York. Castor also showcase the work of creation to the founder Raspberry Pi, Eben Upton finally PiPad signed on the back casing. Michael Castor hopes to improve its current gadgets and maybe it will be developed with a camera and infrared sensors.
