Tested 8 Inch Tablet Windows 8.1 Acer Iconia W4

Iconia W4 is a continuation of the previous product, Iconia W3 recently released in late August of last year. Both of these products carry the same concept, ie embed the desktop version of Windows OS in a tiny 8-inch tablet.

Despite having similar physical appearance as well, Iconia W4 carries a number of important changes that distinguish it from previous tablets, including the use of the Windows operating system and an Intel 8.1 "Bay Trail" Atom Z3740 aka quad-core processor speed of 1.8 GHz.

Other physical changes include a lighter, also more compact bundles with the new Bluetooth keyboard that as size as of the screen. Previously, Acer Iconia W3 with full-size keyboard that looks odd when combined with the 8-inch tablet.

When connected to a monitor / TV with an HDMI input, Iconia W4 can run a scenarios multi-monitor standards, such mirroring and extended desktop. HDMI output on the tablet is placed on the right side, along with a micro-SD slot and volume control buttons. The power button is located on the side of the tablet. 

 Beyond hardware and software that is more current, one of the most noticeably changes is an increase in the quality of the screen. In the past, Iconia W3 has a disappointing display quality. Now it has been improved by applying the tech panel In-Plane Switching on Iconia W4.

Both the Iconia W3 and W4 have the same display resolution, which is 1280x800, but the quality of display both completely different. Unlike its predecessor, the pictures and the colors displayed Iconia W4 seems consistent when the user changes viewpoint. IPS screen on this tablet is claimed to have a fairly wide viewing angle, reaching 170 degrees.

Unfortunately, when we look more closely, the display on the screen Iconia W4 turned out a little less sharp. Icon and text in any Windows interface looks a bit small.
